Personally I find Metal Halide the best. It's bright and gives that shimmering sunlight effect in the water. I don't know how rays are with bright light, but I've used them for 10 years for freashwater planted and unplanted. The only thing I'd consider other than Metal Halide is LED but they need to come down in price first.
