my new 5.5gal breeding tank for black cons! :)

i bought my gf a 5gal last april and she bought a pair of cons and they live very happy on it and breeded twice already... theyre so cute especially with the 7 baby cons that made it!
upon seeing it i got envy lol and i wanted the same setup! hehehe...

Like the looks of your tank man but you really should get a 20-30gal. imo.
The two times your girlfriends fish spawned since April is way low for cons. If they were in a 20gal. she would have 6-8 batches by now. Use the 5.5 to raise some of the fry.

I think that tank looks great! especially from the dollar store!Im gonna go see if my local dollar treet has that stuff to set one up for my convicts when the have babies!

seriously though brothers... were not really into con breeding. we just want to enjoy fishkeeping even with the space limitation (still living with parents, my gf and i)... after a tiring day of work n school... go home, see fish... feels like were rejuvenized... thats what we wanted from them mainly, now if they spawn... thats a bonus!

seriously though, people have been telling you cons get too big for that size of a tank. if you enjoy fish keeping and you're a responsible fishkeeper then the least you could do is provide your fishes a good home. cons can easily reach 4" or more provided they are not stunted in a small tank.

5.5 gallon tank for convicts???!!! That tank is barely big enough just for the fry. I agree with the 20 gallon idea. We keep ours in a 55 gallon tank and I think it is too small!!!
