My new 620 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
glad the crappy tenecor situation righted its self. New tank turned out amazing! I was actually speaking with brian directly, he seems like a cool guy. Not to pushy but still very interested in the sale. I think I am going to use them when I do order my 96x36x30. Brian sent me pics of their tanks all crated up, huge difference from the shrink wrap!

So no complaints? or options you wish you added? or holes you wished were drilled bigger/smaller?

I have talked Pretty often with Brian directly and I agree he is not to pushy and still very interested in the sale. I'm completely happy with the tank. The sump on the other hand has a few issues that need to be worked out but Brian has been on top of most issues to get them resolved. The main problem I have is the flow rate of 1800 gal. Per hr.
Which Brian says is adequate BOR this size tank. But tends to worry me because we originally talked about having 8x turnover but because their was a miscalculation on head pressure I'm running at 2.5 to 3x turnover.
I'm not sure if it would help increase the flow but if it would I would have had bigger piping run on the plumbing and up the returns.
Currently all the plumbing is 3/4" all the way up to the top of the tank.

Is it possible to add another pump? I like running two pumps on my larger systems just for redundancy. Pumps fail and clog at the worst times. I have three Quiet One 4000 on my 450. Two are running and one is in the box still ready for a quick swap out just in case..........

Now that's being prepared! Kind of like Redearsunfish with his filtration

I can add a second pump if I drill the sump which shouldn't be a big deal.
Last week I spoke with Brian about me adding a second pump and he told me that he was sure I had enough flow and because of the issues I was having with derbies settling in the bottom of the tank he told me that he thought a ecotec mp60 would benefit me better.
I will add a second hammerhead pump as soon as I can build my funds up enough to purchase one. I have already exceeded what I planned to spend so far by $1000

What type of lighting do you guys think i should use. I currently own. 3 -400watt and 2- 250watt metal halides I also have 2 additional 400watt metal halides that are going to be repaired making a total of. 5- 400 watts
If you guys think I should use the halides what spectrum bulbs should I use and how high above the top of the tank do you think I should mount then.
Thanks

way too much wattage, go the DIY LED route and you will be much happier

I agree. LED is the only way to go these days. Added benefit for me here in phoenix is no added heat.
