im new to big tank keeping so if its not good tell me i wont be offended i'd rather do it right before i add fish..lol... it came with a aquaclear110 filter.. and the heater is a gaurdian 300w... i dont know much about either i saw the guy running both in the tank days before i bought it and it looked good.. any suggestions??

Even though Hagen says the AC11o is good for up to a 110 gallon tank, that single filter will just be enough for a lightly stocked tank. I would just go with another AC110 the two of them would be good for the 90g. Does the existing AC110 have Bio max ceramic rings in it?

i think so.. i am going to buy another filter next week.. if i do that can i stock it with potential monsters before i can upgrade to a larger tank? or stay with smaller fish but with more?:screwy:

Depending what type monsters you are talking, I would get some feeder guppies or rosie reds to through in your tank for now. You need something in there to produce waste to keep the beneficial bacteria in the filter alive. Later they can become food for your new monsters.

What type fish are you thinking of getting.

im looking for some large fish (i'd get them young and grow them out) which will give me time to get a 220 gal. do you have any ideas of some slow growers who would go good in a 90g?
