Another filter like another 110 or xp3 or something like that and I would run sponge filters off a powerful air pump with a 4 outlet gang valves. A power-head, and call it a day! You could do this for about 150$ just ask and we will tell. lol
Sponge filters for this tank? Spizz!

 "I" Instead of have air stones just pumping air, I use sponge filters on all my big tanks and small ones the same. I recommended 2 ac 110's, Xp3, power-head(s), and the sponges. Is that not normal? I know of some respected members that use ONLY sponge filtration on larger sized tanks (p.m. gr8karmasf and he will tell ya) Did you not read my full post? Are sponges not GREAT for extra bio filtration?.........

What type of monster fish interest you? Arowanas, cichlids, knifefish, P-Bass are all great, some mix some don't. You just have to start looking through all the threads and see what really intrests you the most.

Say away from the Pacu though.

ive always like the clown knife, gars, aro's... not really into cichlids or oscars anymore....i like iridescent sharks but my uncle kept them and had a hard time keeping them happy and ich free ..also i dont see many of them around here... if i wanted to do a community what would mix good with clown knife gars aros? or should i avoid them in a 90 all together? i was thinking getting 2 small gar, an aro and some schooling silver dollars (ive always liked the look of them traveling in packs...) do you think that would be an overload if i boost up my filtration and can upgrade in a year or so? or will they out grow the tank quicker than i can handle?

Of the fish you listed, Aros are only ones I really have experience with. You may want to post threads for the other fishin thier respective forums. If you were to start with a 5" sliver aro, within a year it will need to be in a larger tank. On average they grow 1 to 1 1/4" a month, so in a year the aro will be 16-20" long and very cramped in that 90g. You could go with a black aro, they grow slower, but with blacks being wild caught, you usually do'nt find any smaller then 9-10" so the same time frame will apply. With either the black or silver you will need to eventually have a larger tank than a 220g though.

Austriallian aros (jardini) are best kept alone once they hit the 10" mark. Finding adiquate tankmates can be a problem, but the jar would be more suited to the 220g that you are planning.
