My new Astronotus Crassipinnis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I will try to get some new photos. My fishkeeping hobby is making me want to get into photography just so I can get some good photos that really capture the beauty of the fish. He is doing well, but man is he a pig! He can sure pack away the food. And he is not shy AT ALL! He was eating from my fingers within a couple days of me getting him. I am actually seriously considering ordering from Wetspot again, almost soley so I can get another. I would love to get a pair, but I don't know if I can swing the price to get multiple juveniles. If I just get one more I will statistically have a 50/50 chance of getting a pair, and even if I don't then I'd have an extra one... I don't know though I really, really like him.

I just got a Crassipinnis from the wet spot too. Very cool fish. Just like you said not shy at all very outgoing begging for food. I'm really curious to see how big this guy gets. I would love it if they were smaller

I just found my old digital camera that I thought I lost, and I think I can get some better pictures with that than my phone, so I will try to put some up. He is growing very well, because even though I see him every day he already seems significantly bigger. But it is hard to tell... I should have measured him when he first arrived. Overall I am really enjoying his calmly assertive personality. He is fairly non-aggressive, and doesn't pick on smaller fish, but he dominates bigger fish without ever even fighting them. I added a Carpintus that was an inch or two bigger than him, and he is boss over it. Wasn't expecting that!

Is there a way to post a video that isn't on YouTube? I got a good video with my Crassipinnis in it that Id like to upload, but it won't let me just using the picture upload button.

As long as its short, you can use photobucket to post a video, I don't know the specified length, probably as long as its less than 5 minutes.
Sorry if this is a derail but....
The flash on my camera went out the other day, I went in to get it fixed, and found I could get a new camera body of the same type, a Canon digital Rebel, for $50.
I was amazed, when I bought it around 10 years ago, it was over $700.

I wonder how close the orbics are to the crassipinnis because they too have much longer fins and bigger eyes. As well as there bars are different

I have been reading quite a few thought on the orbics including the fact some feel that Rapp's has used this name inaccurately and that these are basically a form of crassipinnis. But the conspiracy theories continue...

Interesting...forward me that
