Actually it seems that things only spun out of control after you took offense at some advice, or a suggestion, offered by islandguy11 islandguy11 . If ones skin is so damn thin that they can't take a bit of critique, perhaps online forums aren't the proper playground for you? Seriously, no need for all the pissing and moaning. Get over yourself.

I honestly don't care how or what anyone feeds their fish, but islandguy at least has experience with flowerhorn, as do I, I've owned several. How about you? Read the Repashy thread, that was posted 7 yrs ago, and I still stand by every word. Mr. Repashy never did answer my question about the nutrient value of his food, after it had been reconstituted with 75% water. Why do you reckon that is? Doh! Professional experts? LMAO

I don't post on these forums to flaunt my knowledge on this subject, I post here in the hopes of helping others avoid some of the mistakes that I have made over the years. So hopefully if someone stumbles along down the road and reads threads like this, they can form their own educated decision.

Peace out.

My response would be exactly what's posted above, thanks for saving me the trouble Neil (and saying it even more politely than I would have lol). To others who resurrected this lame thread I'll just say with moving images...

As to soaking. One manufacturer I spoke with said the nutrients are suffused throughout their pellets and soaking DOES NOT compromise the nutrional value. I will continue to speak to other manufacturers.

I just wanted to clarify something, so as there is no further confusion on this subject. The only way that this would be possible, is if one carefully soaked the pellets so that no fluid was left standing in the container they are soaked in, AND when fed the fish took the food from ones fingertips. Any other scenario, and some of the water soluble nutrients will be leaching out of the food. Any water left in the pre-soaking container will contain vitamins, such as vitamin C, and most of the vitamin B complex. As the food hits the tank water, leaching will begin again. Not exactly rocket science, but certainly feel free to keep asking other manufacturers.

Either way, it's not the end of the world, but in my experience in many years of feeding fish, most fish can be trained to eat pellets from the container they are sold in, as long as one chooses the size properly. In a rush for quick gains in growth, many hobbyists tend to feed pellets too large for their fish to properly consume, and digest. Again, 100+ years of science behind the feeding of pellets, and the correct sizes, to finfish. Things like total digestibility and feed conversion ratios can mean the difference between hundreds of thousands of $$$ in feed costs, on a large aquaculture facility such as a salmon farm.

That same kind of waste probably goes unnoticed in the average fish keepers tank.

I soak the food INSIDE the tank. So how am I wasting anything? My fish make the choice whether to eat it soft or not. With several types of busy bottom feeders nothing is wasted. I too have had years--40 plus in raising (Including raising different type of fry.) fish. Sir, can person have an opinion other than your's with out being insulted by you? I did not insult you. I had even said I held you in high regard. You yourself said that certain circumstances even warranted soaking food. I would think a sick non eating minnow would be one of those circumstances.
I fail to see how I can cause anything to spin out of control, people are responsible for their own actions. My friend saw what was happening and came in to defend me. It's called loyalty and is hardly inciting a riot. Good day to you.
