My New Background build...concrete or not??

Is the concrete necessary? If it is,do you just water it down so you can apply it with a brush?

Yep..the first coat is kinda thick. Nothing like concrete work consistency though. The next two coats should be watered down so you can smear it on. Then let set for quite sometime and spraying with water from time to time.

Could you use any insulating foam,or is there a reason to use Great Stuff?

here is the second coat of DRYLOK. Will color in the roots, rocks, trees next.

You can use styrofoam, absolutely! great Stuff just gives a cool look when painted.

Done for the night. I am definitely not an artist, so I am struggling with the painting. My daughter helps and she adds the creative side to it. Almost done, another seal coat tomorrow and then the fill and drain process begins. Shouldn't have too bad of Ph reading because of the DRYLOK. It has worked before...so keepin my fingers crossed.
