Wow! This is my new Red Devil. He is 11 imches long and 5 inches tall, and he is a mean little guy.

He actually has a long history with me lol. I first bought him a long time ago when he was maybe 6 inches? I had him in with an Oscar of maybe 8. Within the hour this guy had torn the Oscar apart, and it was barely hanging on. So i put him in a 10 gallon overnight and brought the RD back the next day. Then i tried him again with my Texas once, same story as before. Then he dissapeared for a long time. He was never at the store, and i figured someone had taken him home and either kept or killed him. Went back a few days ago and guess who i saw, now nearly double the size as before! Its been a while. Im about 95% sure that its the same fish, because it has the same attitude and the same color pattern (white and bright orange) with a lot of red on the edges of the body.

Thinking of calling him either Rico or Brutus. Which is better?

He has eaten a few pellets that have sunk but is nervous to go to the surface. But i remeber that he was very outgoing every other time ive seen him and it should come back soon. He already flares at me through the glass.

And pictures. Sorry for ****ey ipad cam and murky water (i rearranged)

I think you should go with Rico, he looks a bit exotic lol, he's nice, I've had a few RD's in the past but mine have always been pritty chilled, every fish has a different Personality I guess, all the RD's were I live in England seem to be solid orange for some reason, no white like your fella, wonder if anyone knows why, could even be mislabelled

I kinda like Rico its more unique but Brutus sounds so badass i cant decide!!
He's definitely a beast, Brutus fits him just fine, I have a large female we need to hook them up!

Lol im down! He might not be a pure though. Im scoping around for a female to try to put in with him, very cautiosly of course... He has hurt plenty of fish under my watch lol.

Nice fish! Looks like a Midas though.

Could be. Labeled as a RD, called an RD by me. LFS fish so idk if its pure.

Thanks!

I have been squtching fish around a lot lately trying to find a great fit. The only fish i ever really liked was my Texas, but he was too small to fill the tank aloneand too mean to share, so i passed him on. Hoping i can get to like this guy a lot too, he one of the fish i regretted selling (both times) but now he is back, and bigger than ever baby!

But on the off chance i do get rid of him anytime soon i will give you a call lol

I had a 10" female about 4-5 years ago, but I lost her to some unknown pathogen, I thought because the previous owner gave her a lot of feeder fish.

I have one now , same complexion, pinkish-red, about 7" and she's just as nasty as the other one I had. Still tankmate-able, but she's "the boss" no matter who grows a pair on any given Sunday lol.

You're gonna have some serious problems getting that beast to accept playdates :(

Yep. He didnt do it before and he may never. Only difference between then and now is that he is big enough now to fill the tank up and was a bit small for that before. Ive noticed him charging his refelction already... Ive got a feeling he will be kinda physco. He was for the few days i owned him a while ago, but i only saw it against fish...
