hi got this fish the other day the fish store said he will get to about 18" but lookin on here it looks like he will get a lot larger i did double check with them but they reassured it would only grow to about 18"

yeah def. a paroon, not many other fish that look like that...will get REALLY REALLY BIG they attain like eight feet in the wild...
100% paroon. You cant tell from the longer, more streamlike dorsal fin. Paroon sharks get to 8 feet easily... Your lfs may have thought it was an irridescent shark, but still these "sharks" still attain lengths of four feet. Id sharks and paroons look kind of similar to the untrained eye. Your lfs was lieing to you to make a sale. Paroons do not look similar to any other fish, except the the id shark.
If this happened to me, I'd raise hell at the lfs.
You need to make a decision soon on whether or not you can house an 8 foot, very active, fish.

the largest i've seen was about 25" or so in an aquarium. but i could be wrong depending on the tank size you might want to take him back
