Yes, but their growth slows down a lot when they reach about 5-6" to the point where they only grow like a half inch per year from my experience.

I don't know, it might. I have no idea how much mine ate (or really what it ate for that matter), I had it for four years and only saw it when I moved the driftwood during water changes.
 
ok right now he just stays in the corner in my cave until i turn off the lights. i also read that after a while he will start to ajust to my feeding schedule is this true? because when i turn on the light to feed them he just goes back into his little corner.
 
I feed mine right before lights out. He doesn't get much while I can see him but he does stick out from under his spot a little and watch for stuff to come close. I just make sure theres food left when the lights go out and he'll be sure to get some.
 
Rafael cats are very seclusive. I feed mine sinking pellets before bed and they are gone in the morning. I only see mine when I do water changes. I think he is one of the most boring fish. Sorry :( eight inches is about right, they last forever or so it seems
 
Feed him at night now so you know he is getting food.

Mine was a recluse for 3 years. He has now claimed a cave in the front part of my tank which allows me to see him. He now recognises the activity of the other fish (or smells the food) during feeding time and comes out crusin' while the lights are on. They can get up to 10"+, but many years down the road. Proteus has a couple of logs. PM him for pics or if he is reading this, he could post them up now;)
