My new convict tank

Those both look like males to me
Females usually have alot of color (orange/pink) on their belly.

When I bought them the lady that was helping me out said the tank was full of males with the exception of two. She pointed out the two females and showed me how their dorsal and anal fins were rounded and not pointed like the males. I asked about the pinkish belly's on the females and she said "some" females are like that but not all.

Anyway I'm pretty sure I have a male and female but there is a small amount of doubt in my mind. I saw the two lip locking last night and the "male" even flared out his gills at the "female" kinda like a betta. Whats that all about? They hang around each other alot otherwise.

If anyone else thinks I have 2 males, please speak up now before my refund expires. Maybe I can exchange one.

im kinda leaning towards two males two. the one on the left in the bottom picture is for sure a male. the other looks like it could be too. do you have any more pictures of them? especially profile shots

My convict pair had some aggression towards each other, so that doesn't necessarily mean they are both males.
If they don't breed after couple months, I would say you have two males. I'm not saying that it can't happen, but I have never seen a female convict that doesn't show colors on her belly.

yeah definitly two males ive never seen a female con without the color on belly and i have a pair myself check out my thread they jus spawned 2nd time last night

Anyone know if the female rounded fin theory is true? I just noticed the "females" tail is a little chewed up. Perhaps it's really is a male and the fins just coincidentally got chewed off into a rounded shape?

Not so much. I got a tank full of cons and i just looked at the fins of all of them and they are all pointed. I think your "female" is male.

The female in my picture is less then 1''....if that helps.
