My new convict tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have have kept quite a few convicts over the years and I have not had one female that didn't have color on her belly and never had a male that had orange/pink/yellow on it's belly. Females also stay quite abit smaller than males. Go back and buy one with the color on it's belly, it's a female :)

Not so much. I got a tank full of cons and i just looked at the fins of all of them and they are all pointed. I think your "female" is male.

The one I intend to get doesn't have nearly as much color as yours do. Probably 1/4th as much color if that. Its still a female though right?

EDIT; sry i dont know how to link your pics.;)

yep.

I picked up two females today and again the employee helping me said "I don't advise that you keep two males in the same tank" I said "those are females" he just went "oh?" :)

Anyways I have them floating in the tank right now. I'll release them in a few minuets and post a few pictures. What an abortion this whole process has been. :irked:

Well here they are. If they're not female after all this trouble I think I'll just kill myself....

jk :grinno:

These are the biggest orangest cons I could find in all of Edmonton, Alberta

:headbang2you have female convicts now! Another thing...when your male gets bigger it will get the "hump" on his head, your females will not...their body shape doesn't change much when they get bigger.
