My new Delhezi bichir

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
don't worry. Just cut the pellets in smaller chunks. Just are a tip, when i got my first poly, I fed it cut up worm sinking pellets to it. There is no way a small poly can swallow such a big pellet. Also try hikiri sinking pellets. Bichirs are super hardy fish so they won't won't just die from starvation. Just as a note, I've kept bichir WAY before i've kept payaras. Bichirs are more of my speciality. lol

He still won't eat, tried a bit of everything. Same goes for my armatus. Starting to regret stocking this tank with these two lol

My bichirs only eat when they are in the dark.

No matter how small I break up the pellets or cut up shrimp/talapia, he basicly chews on it, eats like half the chunk he was chewing on and spits the rest out. I'm getting tired of watching him make a mess then having to syphon out uneaten food 2 or 3 times a day.

I pretty much give up my bichirs. I have 3 bichirs of all less than 5 inches. They are a retropinnis, weeksi and delhezi. All them are classified as dwarves (by me) because they haven't grown for the 2 years i've had them. They are all supposed to be more than a foot long! I've never seen my retropinnis eat and my weeksi only eats once in a blue moon. They aren't unhealthy or anything.
They are were all runts in a pack of 12 inchers back in the lps though.
