hmm the colours on the new one are great but it think i like the shape of the first one. maybe try breed them...

i would love to breed them but can't because the fry will die because
you need to breed ebjd with bgjd
the fry will die if you breed to ebjd together they wont b strong enough to survive

Imo, your first one is the better of the two in a couple respects:

1. The body conformation is MUCH better.
2. It may retain the red trim on the dorsal, which is always a nice feature.
3. The black markings are more obvious, which will give it a darker appearance over time (I think). It's likely that the other one will end up kind of a washed-out turquoise color.

My real concern with the second one is that it looks as if it's going to develop a "beak"; a common problem with ebjds. While it won't affect your enjoyment of the fish, it detracts from the quality of its offspring should you want to breed. The first one looks like it could be a quality breeder down the line.

I think your first one is cute as a button... The head shape on your second one isn't very pretty, but it does have nice color :D

I've raised out quite a few of them by now and I've seen the coloration change drastically and have seen no pattern in how they change/develop color. One of the few consistencies abotu color is... if they have a red line on the dorsal fin when young, it usually stays that way.

Also, at less than 2" long... there is no way to sex them... at 2" their parentage will have A LOT more to do with body shape & color than gender will...

I've seen you say you've wanted them for a while... congratts on finally finding them... Now the next hard part... keeping them alive...
