young ebjds are hard to keep until they reach 3". you should look into a uv sterilizer to prevent intestinal parasites. i only bought one and lost it because of parasites. yours are beautiful. i must be the only one who likes the second one better. i think the gold spangles are going to make it an awesome fish. good pickup. my lfs has 3 for 75 each but i don't have any room left. i would end up homeless if i brought them home right before christmas anyway.

there my fav fish jack Dempsey's are except i dont like the gold ones

i like both they have different patterns i dnt mind them i like the first ones face but the 2nd ones body :)
 
Very nice EBs. I just picked up four about two weeks ago (and a UV Sterilizer - better safe than sorry). I agree with you, JDs are by far my favorite cichlid. Fortunately for me, I like the Gold morph too (which is good, considering the four batches of Gold fry I'm growing out right now).:) Good luck with your "kids".

3 pbass kids
& a new 8 week old husky pure white puppy(kid) by the time
chrissy come around the corner :D yay

I've raised out quite a few of them by now and I've seen the coloration change drastically and have seen no pattern in how they change/develop color. One of the few consistencies abotu color is... if they have a red line on the dorsal fin when young, it usually stays that way.

Also, at less than 2" long... there is no way to sex them... at 2" their parentage will have A LOT more to do with body shape & color than gender will...

I've seen you say you've wanted them for a while... congratts on finally finding them... Now the next hard part... keeping them alive...

Very nice pair. Good luck with them. Mine has done well so far and doesn't seem to be as aggressive as a normal JD. About 3-4 inches now in with an angel, discus, fire eel and BGK. One big happy dysfunctional family.
