Current tanks- 750, 240,225,180,150,(2)125s. Currently making room for another 6x3x1.5 (225) and 180 stack. Hoping to have most of it done next week. Sad part is the 240 with the Morays is the only one without rays. And I'm sure eventually a saltwater ray will find it's way in there.

Really sad part.... My house is a rental. Shouldn't be hard to build a bigger tank then all my little grow outs put together once I have a house I can call my own.

No need to stress on the pond..... Just go buy a liner and a bunch of styro to line the frame, drop in the liner and done. Kiddie pools cost an arm and a leg to heat. Build your own and you can probably pay for it the 1st year just by the money saved in heating over a pool. I had no trouble heating my 700 gallon pond in a basement here in IA during winter with a couple 300 watt heaters. I had to use the same wattage for a 300 gallon tank upstairs.

yeah, he told me you had gotten in touch with him .i thank god he didnt want to ship..and he really gave me a great deal...
He is a really good guy..shame he is getting out of the hobby.

damn..thats a lot of water..How long does it take you to do w/c's? I am actually surprised you dont have a salty ray now.

i am renting too..it sucks.

yesterday i went to home depot and priced out 4x4's for my frame..
after everything i need it will be $400.00 less then buying the plastic pond i was looking at.
it will either be a 6x4x2' or 7x4x2' which i am sure i will go with the 7x4..
i also changed up the filter i am getting..its going to be a 6000g pond filter with a back flush system...comes with a 24w UV.
i will be using a 4000 gph water pump. so i will get 8 to 10x turn over rate...that will go into my 95 acrylic sump with a overflow that will have filter media on top and filled with bio balls and scubbies. It will also house the heaters.
it will return in 1 and 1/4" pvc pipe that will line the upper rim of the whole pond with holes pointing down. i might make it so i can raise and lower it.
i would be lieing if i said i wasnt excited as hell.

4x4s? Lil overkill I think.......

Checkout BOTR's pond build. He did it with a giant stack of 2x4s. Simple and effective. ;) Strong and insulated.

I built mine with 2x4s but not solid like BOTRs. I just framed. 2' really isn't a whole lot of pressure on the sides, don't see any reason they wouldn't be enough especially if you line the inside with some thick styro... I don't think I spent a whole lot over $150 building my pond which is now the sump of my 750. Just 2x4s, screws, liner, and the most expensive part, the styro.

Personally I'd just do the sump for now then contact Kendragon when you get some loot saved up and get one of the fancy Wlim bead filters down the road..... Sound like thats where it's at these days for filtration.

Can't wait to see the finished product!!!!!

piece of mind really..and its easy..
some drilling, 7' lumber ties with liquid nails...and almost no cutting.
i am thinking it will be built in under 2 hours.
ya know i didnt even price the styro because i honestly didnt think it would be that much....i guess i will go look at the home depot home page.
do you know how loud these bead filters are?
i cant wait to see the finished produce either!
