edittttt....One is meant for sch 40 pipe up to 6" and the other up to 4". I need to start looking at the directions.
Bigger pipe has more surface area in the joint, needing a slower cement, to get the joint together before it sets...

That's what I figured. I think I'm gonna go with the regular even on 3/4 pipe. Medium grade dries really fast even on small areas. Not much time to twist elbows into the perfect position before it locks up.
 
Here's something that I occassionally do to keep purple out of sight.
This is pointless, neat freak, psychotic etc. :banhim:

As long as it's fairly low pressure I never mess with it. For plumbing on the house or a high pressure application I use the primer. I don't typically use it though. If the pipes are clean PVC cement is usually enough .

However, the primer will never hurt.
