My new fish room with some pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Jim, recently we removed our water softeners from where I work. Part of that was a couple open top 3-400g brine tanks. I'll see if they're still around if you're interested. They were about 5-6' in diameter I think.

Interested! If there's any way you could give me the real dimensions that would be great, especially height. The tanks have to fit into the garage attic. Yes, I know that supporting them up there will be a paramount project but it must be done!

edit: forgot to add that the bottom and atleast one side needs to be flat for bulkheads.

1/2" plywood to secure ro unit and a few shots of my laser studfinder/leveler combo. Note led display to avoid drilling into electrical wiring.

Ah man that toy is awesome. Must make work a bit easier too.

well, pretty impressive. I hope i can take on something like that for myself one day. I am concerned for your floor tho. I have quite a bit of experience there, and granted there are more products then any one man could ever learn, but i just cant imagine a water proof laminate. Its compiled sawdust, glued, and pressed together. It all interlocks the same....either way i think i would have gone one more step and put down a vapour barrier first. If that sub floor begins to wrought away at any point your going to have big problems. Im kind of confused why the 75 lb roller is there to, unless you glued everything down....

Sorry to sound negative, but ive sold and installed more of that product then most people will ever walk on and i personally really don't like it, especially in circumstances where is will be exposed to moister. All the best tho, i hope my worries for you is the biggest problem you have. How many tanks are you going to setup with all this new room?

The only way that water will reach the subfloor is if water reaches wall. A roller is very typically used to install planks of this nature to help get all edges flush to the floor immediately. It works well and I could see and feel the difference right away :)
