My new Frontosa!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What worked for me the past few days...

I put krill and pellets to float, one or 2 would come to the top but after a few minute or so, I would sink the food to the bottom so the others can eat and then take the uneaten food out... These fish have very sharp senses... They can smell even one piece of shrimp in the water..

i quess they do have great sense.. but it is still better to get the sinking pellets.. you will always find some refuse to leave their hiding place for fear someone else will get it.. and then that fish won't get enough to eat.. sinking pellets for these guys is a must for me.. i can see who is eating and i distribute around their homes.. lol... :D

Yes, get sinking pellets. Its important. You dont want your fronts getting float. Float is bad news.

i don't think that they are zaire i would say that it was leaning towards the burundi to moba side or maybe a hybrid but i dont think its a zaire.

also my zaire blue frontosa male does go to the surface i feed mine tetra prima and it will just go to the top sometimes and eat there even when there are loads of bits sinking around other times it won't go anywere near the surface just depends on character

Any more opinions on the PICs?

I'll load more tonight... I chg-ed the water this w/e and their color are a bit more defined. After looking at numerous pics.. I think they are Zaire, but I need a person w/ experience from here to reconfirm this for me...! Pls!!

The stripe on the eye is blended with a darker shade on the lips and beak and they do have a mask...

I'm not expert, but the fins look like Zaire fins. If they are Zaire they get HUGE and you'll need a very good size tank. I saw a video of a male in an aquarium that must have been 14 inches long.

All fronts are the same size, and fins don't look different lol but yeah they look like zaires, if anything drop a PM to brian, i think his username is zaireblue.com, he'll be able to tell you for sure
