My new gar, some better pictures

imo OP did the right thing.. new fish.. new tank.. new tankmates.. thats alot of stress on any fish. not eating ontop of it and a fish can go downhill very fast. Glad he's eating for you, at his size shouldn't be hard to get him to take other things. and adding the live every other week or so like you plan should keep him hungry enough once he's setlled he'll likely be pretty quick to pick up on his tank-mates foods.

-getting to this late, but i'm with Kevin (Pharma) on this - FLG, possibly wild-caught or just unusual pattern. we do tend to see that pattern more in wild-caught than the usual FLGs. no hybrid characteristics there, and the additional photos should help everyone with ID as well. also, as kevin stated, all gars have that trident to an extent in terms of where some of the skull bones join, in juvie TPGs it just shows up more vividly as it is often colored by the species pattern.

agree on getting the fish to at least eat something...good to get it eating and then work with it from that point; just don't get too dependent on feeders. good luck and check out the various non-live conversion threads on the forum, plenty of info/tips there--
