  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hes a nice looking gar, gotta beef him up a bit.

Bro he is eating around 15 Hikari sticks a day he will get chunky in no time.
I have only had him for a week

nice. and hes already kinda beefy

Nah bro he is in the 6x2x2 with the aro and Pacu

actually those could be equally bad, the aro if much larger, in terms of mass, and the pacu, at any size. it's just not an advisable mix

Great GAR and great looking tank, too !

Just a quick question though... How do you clean the tank ? My gar is very messy, so I do not dare too keep them in a planted tank....

Any suggestion ?

Cheers Adrideh my Gar is also a messy eater.
As far as keeping the tank clean he is in a 6x2x2 with 2 eheim 2028 packed with bio media. I do a weekly 30% water change witch incorporated a gravel vac along with a glass clean as my pleco is lazy.....lol

no to a planted tank, and good arration will keep the tank clean.
and most and i do say most of the time, plecos are bad tank mates for gar. They will occasionally suck the slime coat off a gar and very quickly kill it. mine wouldnt allow his pleco to get close to him. then he murdered the pleco. my gar is a bit of a murderer

planted tank is perfectly fine with gars...it just depends on what kind of plants. i currently have gars with floating water sprite and planted crypts. have also kept them with vallisinaria and anacharis with no problems. if anything the plants will help utilize the nutrients from the waste products of the gars and improve the overall system.--
