Kaiju is not actually a farm. Check their webisite http://www.kaijuarowana.com/aboutus.asp

"KAIJU Arowana imports hand picked Arowanas from Indonesia and Malaysia and re-exporting them to various region of the world like Hong Kong , Philippine, Canada , India , Myanmar , United Kingdom , Middle East etc. Mr. Tan made travels to the sources to pick the Arowanas so as to retain the best quality to be imported for the market.
The name ‘KAIJU’ is a Japanese word meaning ‘Monster’. The company specializes not only in the exportation of Arowanas but also Monster fishes (exotics). Mr. Tan has established himself over the years to be a Monster fish lover amongst fish hobbyist and the passion lives on in this business. In the company’s own business view, KAIJU also means: K (Keen in Quality) A (Authenticity) I (Intuitive to Demand) J (Justifiable Price/Service) U (United with Customers/Suppliers). "

The only way to know for sure is to ask Rockygoldy where got that one in particular
Please excuse my ignorance, i stand errected.

no it doesnt say on cert i dont think. so i am unsure how easy it would be to see parents
but i have seen same RTG on here.
there is another topic here on the aro room that says kaiju rtg one monthon or something.

sorry about the pic
i really dont know how to take pics of moving fish with no flash
the flash makes them look funny and has glare.

I don't use the flash, I found I got a better result by standing further away and then cropping the pic to focus on the aro. Otherwise it just turns into a blur. I also shoot in the "burst" mode where you hold the button down and it takes a series of pics. I threw out about 100 to get those few that I posted!

Mine just scoffed down a heap of shrimp, even stole a piece off the bottom from one of the clown loaches!!

Phil, the cert just comes from Kaiju, mane states that the variety is "Kaiju Green" so I'm guessing his will be the same. I'm sure with the tag number you could find out which farm it came from. I would be interested to know also.

From the threads made by Kaiju vendor (Rockygoldy - MFK resident vendor) recently made, he has been exporting aros to kiwiland. Thus, i am not really surprised that you guys have aros from kaiju (cos i am sure there are not that many vendors that export to New Zealand due to quarantine restrictions and all that).

I have a green aro from Thailand with no certification what so ever - it was just in LFS. Kaiju Green = Green (Kaiju just means that it was from this particular vendor).

Its got nothing to do with quarantine or import restrictions, simply supply and demand. The fact that there is only 4million people here means that the number of $1000+ fish an importer/shop can sell will be limited. This is AFAIK the only shipment of asian aro's to arrive since the last lot of reds that came in a bit over a year ago now, aside from a few high-grade fish imported privately for customers willing to pay a deposit. And prior to that they have been very few and far between. A big chain did import some gold and rtg about 6 years ago, but they were very expensive ($2500 for gold and $4500 for rtg IIRC) and took a long time to sell.

yes, the rtg then 4500 dollars took so long that they could not sellit
so they did tank and filter lights and fish packaes, so cheap that i would have bought if instantly if it was now.

there just isnt many people here. and not many people that would spend that much on a fish...... mostly people spend their money on alcohol:D

OK, now you really have me confused. If it got nothing to do with quarantine and importation etc, then why don't you import directly from the vendors such as Kaiju arowana? That's what i am doing. Cargo cost from Singapore to New Zealand is less than the price of the fish that you say e.g. 4500 for an RTG. You could fly to Singapore for that much and buy RTG with some change to spare. RTG actual cost is around 300 bucks only
