My New Monster Bowfin

I believe it all has to do with locality. 
I had a bowfin up north for awhile. I caught him out of a lake in KY.... Truly awesome fish. Grats man on the good find. As said before..this is like the original North American Snakehead. They truly are wicked!
I ended up letting mine go in my pond. (big natural one)...... I wonder if he is still there hmmm.

lol males go green to show off as do there tongues! when in water with females or other males it is common for them to color up for periods of time...

not always te case bowfin are the most personal fish ever, every one is different reacts differently top different fish, n there is not set, it will work. with mine most tank mates are fine... but thats not always the case some times the flip at one particular fish say a o... but if u have two they mite not develop a problem with the other... its sick to watch and observe if a lil frustrating....
growth in tanks is rapid to about 10" then slows down from what i have seen... mine has grown maybe 3" in a yr....
