Op, your prior fish I doubt died from lack of oxygen...rather I think they died from ammonia. Basically a brand new tank is not good for aros. You need to have a mature filter to keep aros...to get a mature filter, you have to keep smaller fish there so proper good bacteria can grow to take care of the waste aro is going to generate.

Do you know anyone that keep fish? If you do, ask them for a little of what they use in their filter to put in yours, since you already have the aro. Otherwise test the water for nh3, and if level > 1ppm, change 50% water.
