Very good, and while youre there try to also borrow his old sponge or foam filter and put it in ur filter, the faster you can do this the better. Since your friend is also a fish keeper, ask him for advice, or copy his filter setup.

Iam using this plastic panel with hole to cover up my tank..so my aro wont jump out..if she jump the plastic panel wont move coz it was anchored to wood tank cover..

Guys, I don't use a sump, so people here who do should give some advice on the best way to set his sump up...what happened to all those who argued the sump is the best way to go? ;)

the sump type filter always ended up with lots of small fishes trap in it..almost everyday i need to export back the small fish to the main tank..

I think the first step is stop the fish from dying...I believe 20% daily wc will do that.
Next is to kick start the cycle; I am hoping OP is talking and getting what he needs from his friend
Third is to set up his filter correctly...Can someone with a sump help?

but for starters I would fill the middle chamber with this:

If I was in your situation I would:

A: Ask your friend or petshop to hold onto your arrow until your tank cycles.
B: If you cannot have someone hold onto your fish then you need to seed your tank with BB. You can do this in lots of ways (ex.gravel from established tank, filter media from established tank, etc..) You can even squeeze a friends filter media into a bottle and pour it into your tank. This will help you cycle your tank faster. Lastly, do lots of water changes until your tank is cycled.

Good Luck
