That's a good pic of some nice looking fish. Looks like there helping you out by sitting still.

Thanks! Yep, I took advantage of them all huddling up while refilling the tank on a water change. The silver dollars are usually flying back and forth the full length of the tank all day long, so this is the only time they stay still. The added benefit is that they for some reason think the GATF is going to protect them, so they all get right up next to him as I refill the tank. If he moves, they move right along with him in a tight school. Pretty funny looking, actually. Looking forward to them doing it when the GATF is 14", that should look pretty hilarious.

Rob - I'll take you up on that as soon as I get my hands on that DSLR again. Thanks!

Day 5 in pellet training. He still hasn't taken a whole pellet yet, but he's been obviously interested since the first day. He charges them and then stops immediately short of the pellet. Yesterday evening I saw him take a piece of the pellet that one of the silver dollars had chewed in half, looked like he swallowed it, then spit it back out. He then chased the same piece and re-swallowed it 2 more times, but spit it right back out both times immediately. Didn't look too happy about it either, he was fully opening and closing his jaw and shaking back and forth like he was trying to assert dominance.

Today I saw him charge and actually swipe at a pellet with a true biting motion, but he still hasn't actually bit into one and swallowed it totally. I'm hoping it's getting close to happening, not really wanting to starve him for longer than a week total if I can help it. Are you guys using a full stick or breaking them into half for a 7" goliath?

By the time Max was 7" he had no problems eating a full jumbo carnistick.

Your guy is incredibly close to breaking. He's at the point now that he knows they're food but he just doesn't like them. Once he gets a little hungrier, he'll eat. I wouldn't give in at this point, he's 98% broken already. I only give up on my breaking process if they're so stubborn they don't recognize the food and they start to get thin. Where your guy is at, I would stick it out.
