Thanks guys! Please feel free to derail, I don't mind one bit. :)

I'm happy to report I just saw him eat a full stick! He went full on and smashed it, and then kept it in. He then stalked one half sized piece that was circulating in the downward current and bit into it. He swam around the tank with it stuck in his teeth and then spit it out. He actually then went back and swallowed it. So I think the next few days should be good, hopefully he's got a taste for them now.

Rob - didn't Wes just put out an email with some really good prices on TATF? I could be wrong, but I remember seeing them on the stocklist and seeing a ridiculously low price on them. I'll go see if I can pull it up again. I might be thinking of something else, it's been a long, long week at work already.

SUCCESS!!

He went from tentatively eating the single pellet yesterday afternoon to full-on attacking and eating 7 full sized Hikari food sticks just now. He even ripped one straight out of a silver dollar's mouth. I'm so proud lol.

What's the normal amount of sticks they'll eat per feeding? I have really only fed him shrimp up until now, so I have no idea what would be considered a normal sized meal. Something like 5-8 sticks 3x a day? Just guessing here, I figure someone else with experience feeding pellets to ATF would have a more nailed down answer.

Congrats!

When my guy was that size, I'd simply feed him as much as he could eat as often as he could eat it. Every 3-4 days I'd make him fast for a day to allow time for the previously fed food to digest well. When Max was 6-7 inches, he was eating six or so jumbo carnisticks twice a day. I think you're on the right track for feeding your guy. With Max, I found that he'd eat until he was full and then ignore the rest. I'd just net out the leftover pellets.

Now that I've had all five species, I've noticed that all tigerfish seem to only be able to eat a little at a time, they can't gorge like cichlids. I've had the best luck getting good growth feeding multiple times per day, just like you're wanting to do. :)

Sounds good to me, thanks. There are no leftover pellets to net out ever, not with those silver dollars in there. Freakin' pigs, I tell you. They swim up, grab a stick and swim around munching it down with it sticking out of their mouth like a cigar.
