The PTC that my friend had and I saw sparring in the dealer tanks are the Macros, not yellow fin. So they can behave differently.

This is pretty consistent with what I've seen. A quick internet search will reveal dozens of videos of the tucanfish in groups of 2-6 but only one video of a group of macrolepidota in which there are a dozen or more.

Also note that these fish are all sporting a conspicuous humeral spot so maybe not true macrolepidotus after all...

I can't even tell the difference between macro and epakros. Erythrurus are easy when mature and so far the only one that I can ID with a quick eyeball. The trouble is in that they both have the same common name which is why someone mustve came up with "tucanfish" in the past.

The wet spot is the only retailer where I've seen them both for sale concurrently under the names "pink-tailed chalceus" and "yellow-finned chalceus". I've seen "tucanfish" for sale at tuic, albeit some years ago. With most other retailers I think it's a crapshoot as to what you may receive when you order.

The fish in Post 53 look very different from mine for having more slender body, darker scales, a faint lateral line and humoral spot. lve never seen it sold in the east coast. It’s the worst named fish lumping different species in one common name. I keep other community tetra and don’t have confusion in common names. IME, even similar looking tetra can behave differently, for example, bleeding heart is more peaceful than look alike rosy HY511 tetra.

I think they are Guaporensis, the same as the new PTC I have. Fishbase seems to agree based on their stock photos of each species.
