OK I got my canopy/top/ finished today, i went with a pulley system and it works great. I wanted the entire top covered so i would not have any leaping deaths, but I still wanted to be able to uncover the whole pond so....this is what i did. I am really happy with it. The casters make it very easy to pull up, also i used a spade bit to recess holes for the caster wheels to set in so that the canopy stays put.

Mine is very similar to yours. However, I really like your lid and the pulley system.

MENARDS!!!! I love menards....they just have everything don't they? Also is that treated lumber? IDK if it is much of a concern but I would put something over that. I would just think that if the condensation starts acumulating on it and dripping back into the pond that all those chemicals cannot be good for the fish. IDK it might be more dangerous though just to put a coat of polyurethan on it.....
