My new ray

I've done loads (4 months) research yet I got my own male Motoro ray today and still want to ask to check. He's about 5-6inch disk. Ate where I got him from. I did the recommended drip acclimatise. I've just gone to feed him and he's not ate an has been hiding under the sand since been in the tank. This pic is the most un covered he's been in 4hours. Just want to check this is normal for being so new to the tank?

He's breathing fine but not moved for about an hour now which is what's bothering me

Turn the light off and let him settle in. Burying themselves is a security measure when stressed. Majority of rays stop doing it once they settle into their new environment. Looks form what I can see to be nice and healthy.....

Ok so lights completely off or just moonlights? And is this done until he's a tad more active? Or do we have a recommended timescale?

after about a month if everything is going OK they will stop. mine haven't buried them self in a long long time.

So should I be worried he hasn't moved in an hour and a half? His disk has waved about etc but he hasn't moved from where he is in the above pic..

Obviously not too far from you! Nice to see people in staffs. From garage aquatics mate. Sounds dodgy but got my arow from ther about a month ago now. It's all well looked after etc. nice chap too
