My new ray

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Right so 48 hours later I still have a healthy ray looking good but we've fell out as I've now turned the light on. He's in the sand but not as deep as he would bury himself at first. Just want a few opinions to know if this is the right think to do. Thanks

I think he's fine. Still eating, right?

Have you checked your water parameters? May sound silly, but when my parameters were off, my little ray remained buried. Now that all os perfect, he only buries when I do water changes.

Rays come with a huge bioload, and can throw off a seemingly cycled tank. I learned that the hard way.

So, test water, just to be sure. If all is well, and he is eating, no worries. He'll come around.

Yeah tested the water about 2 hours ago
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
NitrAte 5

water change 30% last night which is why it's so low

i got rid of 3plecs for a 6 inch disk ray so my filter seems to me managing this is his 3rd night and every time I turned the lights on before he went straight in the sand. I fed him about 10mins ago he happily had 3 1.5 inch silver feeders which I freeze and have been feeding to a Bircher for about 2 years now from the same supplier so I know I can trust them. He also had 2 1inch prawns obviously broken up to smaller pieces. Which is the most he's ate since having him. He's also put on a nice amount of weight since I got him home which I'm ecstatic with! Seems happy just doesn't like the lights as he isn't used to them it seems any more/other opinions are more than welcome. No such thing as too much advise.

Thanks
