My new Rio Unini Heckels

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Very nice combination of fishes.

Thank you sir!

Looks great Jay. The blue looks intense on the discus. Maybe add a 1 or 2 wild red discus to the mix?

I was thinking about that- there are actually Royal Cuipeua which are red on special from one of the suppliers i know but the tank is already crowded - and I have not decided on an upgrade yet...lol

A combo of blues & reds would look sick in there along with other mates. Hopefully some room will open up some day for ya. I'm sure I will end up with some wilds myself at some point. I talked to snookn a couple times, but never pulled the trigger. Heard they're a bit less skittish than their domestic cousins

These came from snookn- I would highly recommend him or wilds.. these cam e in clean and happy- and yes they are more feisty they chase the altums all the time.

Those uaru are too nice, too tempting. What temp do you keep them at?

HAHA they are what started this tank- one of my favorite fish... the temp on this tank fluctuates a bit because it is near a window... now that it has warmed up in NJ it sits at about 84 but over the winter it gets as low as 78 without issue.

Yea I'm still stuck on those Panda Uaru too, they look awesome with your Discus!

What PH do you sit at? Wetspot was saying they had them in the 6.5-7.0 range without issues, but everything I've read says under 6 and closer to 5 ideal. If they can handle a bigger range I would probably not hesitate, although they are ~2inchers.

What did your quarantine consist of for your wild discus Jay? Do you use anything for your tap outside of normal water conditioners for this tank?
