i was lucy..mine ate pellets from day one, bu that was because the store did the work for me. My last aro would only eat frozen bloodworms, brineshrimp and market shrimp and always any live food. Basically what i've learned is you will have to starve him/her till they eat pellets or food sticks, i would try this once he is little bigger..good luck and nice aro by the way..

So why did ya change your name? Didn't you like Lucy?:D

my aro eats 3 sticks a night now, very impressive for me lol. i tried to feed him shrimp but he doesnt know that its food. when i drop it next to him he tweaks out a little. he swims and if i put the sticks in he doesnt tweak out and he munches on them. how can i get my aro to reconize the shrimp?

i really can't wait till april 17th (birthday = 2 arowanas- if my dad lets me keep the tank; its complicated lol!!!) this is making me really jealous keep us posted my friend good luck :asianarow

Easiest way to get your aro eating frozen market shrimp is to first get it to take food from your hand, this way the shrimp doens't sink to the bottom. You can also buy a veggie clip and hang the shrimp from it near the waters surface. Another trick is to stuff the shrimp with enough food sticks that it floats, this may not work depending on the size of your arowana

my aro is about 4 inches, ill try to feed him with my hand, when i do water changes he doesnt really tweak out by my hand so i think hes used to it.
thanks alot if it doesnt work then idk, just have to make some aro soup.

I wouldn't bother with market shrimp until your aro is 10-12". The are lots of smaller foods that are better choices for your arowana.

what foods would you say are better choices? i feed shrimp to my bichir, so might as well try to give some to my aro right?

LMAO
how the heck can i get my arow to eat from my hand? that would be so cool .. but wont it be scared? and does it hurt if it bites your finger?lol

Barracuda - I know how you feel bud.. it was hard enough to convince my dad to0 let me get a big enough tank for an arow... :irked: But i worked my magic :D

Tigrey.. mine eats everything now ! and it trys to eat the sticks in one bite but its to big so he spits it out and eats it in smaller bites:ROFL:
