My new silver Arowana!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The thing to think about is that generally speaking aggression in cichlids will get worse with age and size and I personally wouldn't risk an aro for anything lol. That being said it is done pretty often with success. It's just one of thing u have monitor if u try it. Some fish come some fish go. A lot of times cichlids won't even pay attention to a big aro and vice versa. So trial and error.

Yeah I had my error, this one may not be put back in the same tank. For one the tank was a 53g with plans on my aro going into a 250g when I get it set up. So now plans changed to this guy growing out a little and being placed into the 250g. I would still like to have a tankmate of some sort with him. Maybe another aro?!?! I don't think I'm going to chance it with the SA cichlids...

My guess is your have better luck with a Texas than another silver in a 250 gallon. But sometimes people do it. You'd have to get lucky enough to have 2 silver who will tolerate each other. Again it is done though. But eventually 250 would b cramped for 2 silvers IMO

When your silver is big he probably won't b a target for your Texas. But no one can say with absolute what they will do. One thing I would do is set up your big tank and have your aro in for a bit. Then intro the cichlids and give them some territories on bottom and they may never even look at your arowana who will primarily stay on top. If want a sure bet go with catfish bichirs and other bottom feeders or milder cichlid types. There's really a lot u can keep with SA arowana. There's some good threads on here abt tank mates

A little off topic, is there an app for Monsterfishkeepers for IPhones? I hate ha I got to google it to get back here.
And update my aro I still haven't witnessed it eating. It is still just as active but really got me concerned. I'm getting pinheads tomorrow to try. Still has a little yoke sac so I'm hoping this is enough!

As long as some of the egg sac is left I would not worry about Aro eating because it absorbing food from the egg sac.
