Superb specimen, so much for the theory on hooks dissolving in a fishes gut. If it is not dissolved in 3 years then it probably won't dissolve period

He he the pictures from MichaelH (and the single fish above) are the "white xingu star". ;) That fish is now owned by thomas peters and is the big ass female you have posted in your thread (the nice white one). ;) Also her pups were all hybrids. There was no xingu male for her to breed with as there was still a ban back then. And the pics are from an even older thread on a german forum. ;)

Also, how do you know those two rays wont turn white? They look to be around 25-30 cm. The ray in the pic just next to them dident turn white before 45-50 cm. :)

It doesn't mean that's wrong? Hooks may dissolve. I'm sold that she was hooked above the stomach or digestive system . After all the travel and netting ect.. That could have dislodged the hook than she passed it.she did start acting real scary for a bit lol

i don't ! You don't ! Nobody knows ....
i just go off of what I've heard from people with experience, people that have kept them and seen them!

I'm not sure what your getting at anders, your point was very clear after your first post on this thread!

Can't a guy just post a picture of his new ray!

I think your ray looks fantasic. :)

But I dident agree on the "very few turn" white part.

i cant beleive that michael H xingu is the same as thomas peters? i look at the spotting the distinct white spots that stay she doesnt have nearly as many and their is a very disctinctive spot right above the right spiricle.take a look, but im not sure as you live out in europe and may know more of this famous white xingu?

and also the guy who posted a picture of the wild xingus says they are big ones??? nobody has a way of telling how large they actually are? you cant tell they look around 12" and not 18-22".12" .the guy who posted those is obviously experienced he took the picture in brasil.a 12" is not a big ray ,he says "they are big".

The ray was imported by michael (if I rember correctly) and sold to a german. He then bred with a motoro or something. I dont remember if it was sold to thomas before or after it turned white. It dident do so before 45-50 cm. but it sure is the same ray. ;) Look a your own. Hard to believe it was once brown? ;)

That "guy" is Stefan. He just found the pic on the web. ;)

Who knows ???
It would be nice to see more.I've only seen 3 that have turned white, one is about 12" the other mine 13-14" and thomas peters very nice one !

So i was not correct or incorrect when i said that they all don't turn white.I've seen larger ones that haven't turned yet? And also the three that I've seen white are all females? Could that be a determining factor we won't know, and probably won't any time soon as white rays have not been aloud for export!
