Anders scobina are similar to these rays many people believe they are scobina ! I have seen scobina though and i don't believe it is one myself just because of the size the xingu gets vs the scobina.the xingu ray maybe it's own undiscribed species or just a variant but i don't believe myself that its a variant of a scobina would be bigger.but who really knows how big scobina get? I have never seen a 10 year scobina before??? Don't be so defensive Anders if you look I'n the aqua log this ray is pictured and described by Ross as a humerosa variant.I've only seen pictures of humerosa rays and one to could argue the same thing about these two rays. Humerosa do also get larger like xingus do.
I have a hard time seeing how you could confuse the two unlesh you wernt that into rays.

My scobina male was fully mature at just 16 cm. Thats the sign of a small species.

A 10" scobina who is wildcaught is not a young ray.
many scobina pretty much stop growing at 10". Also, rays grow alot slower in nature than in a hot tank with all the food they can eat.
A 10" wild scobina could easily be 6-10 years old.
It looks great Matt! Out of the 4 xingu I had when they were young one appeared to look very much like a scobina. The suttle differences then was the size of the ray compared to the claspers (big ray, small claspers), the rows of spines, and the size of the eyes. I believe it was a R # in the aualog if I can remember that was very similar to the xingu.
I now own some scobina since then and can pick out the differences better.
