My new tank (first real MONSTER)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I suggest you get some power heads too to help move the water around to help it along with filtering ....... its going to be an awsome tank no matter what you do with it :) good luck if I my suggest a discus tank. good luck bud send more pics.

i agree with Peanuts suggestion-a mixed SA/CA tank would be awesome! there are some big, colorful fish that would do great in there!

Is that the old shark tank they were getting rid of?
Awesome pickup!
Have you seen the new showtank?

I got three 1200Gph pumps. and two 700gph pumps. with this thing. The 700gph ones are in what I am told to be a proteen skimmer. Which I will more then likly sell. and ill use the threee big boys to flow the water. I think I might be able to salvage one of the two tanks that I got with this deal. The 30 has a hole in the bottom left of one of the side panels. and I figured it out to be about 30gal of bio balls would be needed for 600gal. So what I am thinking now is that I can use the 30 filled with bio media and a DIY tirckle I should be ok with the bio. (give me some input if i'm wrong) Then set the 30 on a small stand in the stand so that the hole in the 30 is as high as I can get it. then set a northe tank below to use as a return.

I am begining to think that the setup I got might be able to work. I just wish I would have looked under the stand when the tank was in the store so I know how they had it setup.

My only issue now is where is my mechanical filtration it has to be before the bioballs doesnt it? I am not sure so I guess I am heading over to the filtration forum lol
Post some pix of what you got and we'll be able to get her figered out...Sounds like you got the whole thing there...

That is amazing I am jealous of that deal! I also agree with the SA/CA community to stock it those would look really nice.

Yeah it's the old shark tank. I have seen the new one and OMG I would trade them back the old after I update it and give then 2000 more dollars for that thing. it's nuts.

This is the small trickle tower this thing had in it at the store. I figure it holds around 2.5 gals. of bio balls.

The next pics is of what I am told is a proteen skimmer. Since I don't know anything about them I had to take his word on it. (any one tell me if this is what it is? It has two DAS 2000L/H pumps in the bottom left portion of the "skimmer"

The third pic is of one of the three 12000GPH pondmaster pums that came with it the only differance in the pumps is the outlet angle.

the fourth pic is of the 30gal with the about 15gal of bioballs he gave me. there is a hole drilled in the bottom left of the side pannel with a fitting that has a 1" ID

The last pic is of what was the old retun tank I am assuming. I am not sure why it is partitioned off like it is but all I know it it's about the size of a 40 breeder but it heavy as hell it weighs about as much as a 75gal. HEAVY and very think glass.

I figured what I would do is set the 30 up full of bio balls and do a DIY dip/trickel over the top of the 30gal. Then set the 30 up high enough in the stand that the hole that is drilled if high enough that is is over the top of the other tank. Then run some PVC from the hole in the 30 to the one odd hole in the other tank then place two of the three 12000GPH pumps into that tank and run them throught the two drilled hole and fittings on the other side back to the main tank. My only worry is if the 30 full of bio balls can flow into the other tank fast enough that the big pumps in the other won't drain the tank dry.
If anyone follows that last paragraph let me know. lol

Wow. What a score and score one for the non-Californians!!! All those pumps alone would've cost a bundle.
