how about a massive african cichlid setup?

This is a idea that peanut_power has also. I don't think I can get behind it though. I would rather do a 180 for CA/SA

if i had that 585, id throw some rays and aros in there. or maybe just 2 CKs and a pleco.

Rays are going to be in this tank. and only a common pleco If algea gets bad. (which it shouldn't) Idk about the CK if I were to get a CK it would more then likly be a royal.

I just discovered this thread. Can't wait to see the tank fully stocked. I personally like the idea of an amazon community with pbass, TSNs, RTCs, and other assorted cichlids, plecos, dithers, etc.....

ok so when I am done writing this I am going to go fill the tank. if everything goes well I will keep ir running. I however still need a top and heaters. But I don't need them anytime soon b/c I do not need them to cycle the tank. I think it will tank about 3 hours. give or take a few lol. When I come back i'll have picks. If I don't come back something bad happened and I have to call the insurance about water damage. lol

The Fish gods are with you...
see ya ina bit...

Man, I can't wait to see that thing all set up with fish...

allright the moment you and I have waited for. I am not sure how long it took to fill but it was a little more then an hour. I set my stopwatch on my phone not knowing that it wouldn't go over an hour. SO about 1 hour and 20 min. to fill this whole tank and sump. I'm frecking amazed at how fast it was. The spicket I have in my basement kicks major butt. I took some pics with the flash off b/c the water level was low and it didn't show up very well. Once it was full I had to make sum adjustments to the spraybars leading to the sump. I had to drill the holes MUCH larger. In each spraybar there is 12 holes that are all 5/16" and I think I will have to make them biger yet or make A new setup once I finish my outlets. (which you can see are not done) I don't think the 5/16 holes are big enough to handle roughly 2000gph. But everything else works fine.

On a side note How do you get the nose from your overflow box quiet?

If you have ever filled up a big tank in your house you know what i'm tanking about. When the tank started to fill I was going nuts thinking that the floor was going to give out under all the weight. I know I am not out of the clear yet but I feel MUCH better now that it holds the weight initaly. So I don't feel that there is a big chance that the floor will fail.

I was going to add a gold fish for kicks but I didn't b/c the water was way to cold compared to the tank the golds are in now. I will wait till morning and see if the water temp changed.

I don't know when it will have fish. I have other things that need to be done in the basment first. I still hope that it has something in it before xmas. That's my timeframe to get the basement done and fish moved. (that's what my g/f tells me I have to do so I got to do it lol)

Well enjoy and maybe tomorrow I will have a little gold fish in there for kicks. lol
