My Oscar eating a Garter snake!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The only concern I want to ask is if that Garter Snake was fed live? The fact that the snake could bite the Oscar would concern me, especially if it bit it internally. I don't have a problem with feeding it a snake, but just be aware of things you feed your fish. Live feeder fish can carry diseases, mammals and reptiles will bite back, and wild insects can carry pestisides. Just keep this in consideration;)
As for the hamburger meat...was it cooked or raw? Again...cooked hamburger meat would probably be worst with all the added grease from cooking. Raw would be better, but I know that hamburger meat isn't the leanest. Raw seafood would be best for fish;)

Actually, some areas in the US have introduced Bass and bullfrogs as predators to keep the garter population down. Garter snakes produce a mild neneurotoxic venom but their teeth a too small to deliver it. Their main defense is an awful smelling musk secrected to ward off predators.

I doubt the Oscar could eat that snake. Nice try but I pretty sure it was a failed attempt. Cool pic though.

I also have had first hand experience with this, nasty! :barf:

badass dude !!!!! seariously. and guys its his fish stop trying to flame the guy let him do as he pleases and yes its not the wild but still u think its right that u keep these fish locked up in a little box if u really want to get into it. so why not take them back to their roots. and u cant tell me that oscars dont eat baby snakes? they eat baby birds and basically anything that is small enough to fit into its mouth i mean come on now. u seariously think aquarium fish act that different then wild fish? only difference is they dont have as much area to live and thrive in. JUST KEEP UR FLAMING TO URSELF NOONE CARES ITS LIKE TELLING A SMOKER WHY SMOKING IS WRONG WE DONT CARE. but seariously that is doper then dope hah. enter it in the potm
