what was your water change/ gravel vaccum schedule like before you noticed the hith?

None of the advise is a guarantee. It is good advice but not guaranteed. My oscar has had HITH for 6 months. My water quality has always been awesome. But I stepped in up even more daily water changes, the diet has always been varied, no feeders, raised temp, added salt, Melafix, Pimafix, nothing has worked. He is still eating and very active but it is very frustrating that it has not improved or gone away!

Like everyone said...None stop water changes do large amounts, take out carbon, be careful what you feed it. You should keep your nitrates under 20ppm. Healthy water should heal him quick.

What size tank do you have? What are his tank mates? What is your filter system? What is your water readings? How often do you change his water?

There is also nothing wrong with doing two 80% water changes in a row. I do that weekly. Get a python syphon. It takes more time but is not more work. How much filtration do you have?

Make sure you treat your water with a good water conditioner as well.
