Thank you.. i have always had a dobie and i can tell you they are different from each other that i have had.. one would not mature until he was 4 years old..then became so mature and reliable and affectionate it breaks my heart to think about him now..at age 16 we had him go through cancer treatments and he lived an extra 6 months..kind of nuts when i concider now his age.. but we loved him dearly, then our second dobes was mature and quiet and sweet from 6 weeks old..but passed from cancer at 9. Now this one is alot like the one you describe haha.. she will mature in another 2 years.. but she is so smart..never saw anything like it.. so i would love to try another kind of pup.. and yours are just gorgeous. I see them in the paper and i will be getting a new puppy soon..thanks

my advice is stay away from the alpha pups in the litter, and remem, ber to force you pup too it's back atleast once a day, this will put you in alpha mood and makes things much easier for you, inless you plan on doing sport work then you want a alpha dog, here is site that might help you with some new thoughts on traininghttp://www.outlawdanes.com/superdog.html

Very nice American Bulls. I have to say these look fairly different to ABs I've seen in real life and photos. These look very similar to a pit.

Red Devil - Coming from England, I have a fair bit of experience with English Bull Terriers and Staffs etc. English BTs are not nice dogs. Every staff and pit I have come across has been a lovely dog, sweet as pie. I had a staff/pit cross for a while that was great.

English Bull Terriers are nasty, they are the only dog that has attacked me for no reason. I walked past one and it clamped onto my leg for no reason, I still have the scare. I've also seen others being aggressive with dogs. My girlfriend's friend was also attacked by an English Bull Terrier.

I was recently in the market for an Amstaff, but I no longer can. Despite being legal in England, you can't bring them into the country as they are a "Pit Bull Type" dog. And they can destroy the dog if you can't prove it has no pit in it etc. ****ers.

http://www.doggehouse.co.uk/ here is site of a guy in the uk who breed standard types, plus he explains the different types with picture very well on his site, rowland is a very good guy, he will answer anu question you have, you might also want to try blocky dogs ab's

You know Rumblesushi i really appreciate your feed back about the English bull terrier.. i do not need a dog that has that type of temperment.. and maybe my obsession should decline.. i have heard that they were stubborn which i could handle but nasty for no apparent reason is another story.. i am sorry too hear that you had such a bad experience with them.. can't help but blame {most of the time the owners} especially in the pit bull situation.. i think it is really bull that a pit bull is banned like this.. by home owners insurance etc. i would love to own one of these beautiful dogs.. maybe i will just focus on another dobie.. thanks Rumblesushi

No problem Liz. Of course I am a big believer in it being the owners fault, by nature I think a well bred Pit is a wonderful dog, and it's not their fault they have fallen into such bad hands and have this rep. Just chavvy bastards that have created a bad line of dogs and a bad rep. Same with many other dogs.

My opinion though is that an English BT is a dog with simply a nastier nature than a Pit, Staff, Amstaff etc which I think are generally very nice.

Of course you're going to get some very nice, sweet EBTs, they'll vary like with anything, but in my experience a fairly large portion of them are nasty.

For example, when I was a kid I was attacked by 2 dobermans. But I have nothing against dobermans, this was just an unfortunate situation. These 2 belonged to a tramp for one, and also I ran round a corner and startled them. I've never had a problem with another doberman, so it was just a case of bad luck.

English BTs however, I've seen or heard of too many of them being nasty for no reason to think it's just bad luck.

I did want an Amstaff, then a bordeaux, but unfortunately the Amstaff is now out of the question unless I decided not to move back to England. So I have decided on a French Bulldog and then when I move, a dogue de bordeaux. 2 sweet, soppy dogs. One small and one huge :D

I was also considering an American Bulldog, but like Amstaffs, I would not be able to bring it back to England.

............well i am going to take your word for it Rumble..because all i really know about the english bull terrier is his picture is on every advertisment for Target Stores...and he just recently won top dog in a top show on tv...and i have seen their pictures on some posts on MFK and I have purchased a huge book on breeds from AKC..and i was totally attracted to them because they were somewhat ugly but beautiful in their own unique way.. with their little squinty eyes and roman nose.. and stubby little body.. i read you cannot knock them off their feet.. so i figured the dobes and the EBT would be good together...other then that i had no experience with them since they are not around here at all.. if i finally do see an advertisment for them they are $2000. If i am going to pay $2000 for a pure bred dog i want a sweet one.. good quard dog but also good with people when theres no need to be anything but friendly.. you sure have had your bouts with dogs.. i have never been bitten and i have been around alot..so that must be an awful experience especially when your just a kid.. glad all dobies are not like that. But Dobie are sometimes over protective of their owners.. and of their domain... but i do not have any problem with mine once she knows the people belong..
