my advice is stay away from the alpha pups in the litter, and remem,ber to force you pup too it's back atleast once a day, this will put you in alpha mood and makes things much easier for you, inless you plan on doing sport work then you want a alpha dog, here is site that might help you with some new thoughts on traininghttp://www.outlawdanes.com/superdog.html

I think your advice is right on..i think my dobie this time is the Alpha.. it is okay and all is well but it is definitly been different with her.. How do you reconize the alpha pup in the litter.. in my case i had my dobie placed on my lap..haha..it was all over...

They have been my favourite dogs since I was a kid. An absolute beast, in ancient france they were used to kill bears, wolves, and even fought jaguars and were used as a wardog. But they are some of the nicest, soppiest dogs I have ever come across.

Chugger - I was told by the English authorities that any "pitbull type" dogs were detained and vetted when entering the UK, which includes American Bulldogs and Amstaffs. They try and trace their ancestry and if they are found to have pitbull in the line, they are putdown, simple as that. What is absurd to me is of course an Amstaff has pitbull in their ancestry, 100 years ago they WERE a pitbull. Also an Amstaff is legal in England, but a pit is banned.

alpha pups r usually the pups that wont let you put them on there back, they will fight fight fight!!, i like to test them that way too see who will allow it and who wont, once a dogs knows you as the alpha, it will be a whole lot easier training the dog

did you know that where we get the saying" beware of the dog" come from a 17th or 18th century statue from a french sculpture, and the dog in that statue tied to the post with the beware of dog in french sighn next to it is thought too be Dogue de Bordeaux, atlest the original type with the 3/4 cropped tail and cropped ears, and abit smaller, but still i think thats cool, i hope to get a remake of that statue someday, a pic of it is on the book the world of fighting dogs

Oh i definitly know what you mean about the {warlock}dobes.. this dobie i bought is half german registry and half US.. reason being i wanted to be away from the close breeding and also the bleeding disease and cancer ..vonwillibrands disease-{-sp. may be off.}but i think i picked the alpha pup.. she is an athlete, pure muscle.... full of energy.. will play ball all day if she could.. obeys all orders... it is just that you can tell it is going against her grain..like she thinks she knows better then you..haha
