I do not get it, why don't you guys wait till one of the worst winter storms ever to hit us passes before ordering fish? Not trying to be mean or anything, just wondering :)

I've tossed around ordering fish more 'n once online and having it shipped.. but not in a wisconsin winter.. I don't care how good heat packs are... and TBH it wouldn't be the loss of money that would really bother me.. as the OP stated.. it's the box full of dead fish that would bother me. Accidents happen.. but this time of year imo is just not a good idea to be haveing fish shipped.

I've actually had better luck in cold months than in summer. Even if there is ice in the bag there is a chance a fish can be brought back (I've done it twice) but a cooked fish is cooked.

However, my most recent order of fish is not going out until next Wednesday at my request, simply because the snow storms slow down or stop a lot of shipping, even stuff sent overnight.

LiveAquaria is pretty good about refunding or sending new fish for DOA's, but I'm still sorry your fish didn't make it.

If anyone read the original date of this, it was before this crazy blizzard that most of the country got.

Although, I do agree about the day of the week chosen, always ship out on a Monday or Tuesday, that way even if it is delayed, there's less chance of it being delayed over a weekend.

took the words out of my mouth.Three words of advice...

Watch weather reports.

Weather was in the 70's here when I placed the order. I consider it the company's job to acknowledge poor weather conditions where they are located before sending out any overnight orders.

Now I'm not entirely sure if the plane delay was weather related, but if it was, Dr F&S should have known better than to ship the order out. Matter of fact, they actually delayed the replacement order because of poor weather conditions. Would probably make sense to do that the first time.

Bummer nothing made it :( I don't disagree with you but in their defense, no one really thought the weather was going to get as extreme as it has in some afeas. None the less I hope the new order makes it safely.

ps - is that a Uaru amphiacanthoides in your avatar?
