your parents are awsome!!!!!!!!!!! :headbang2

my uncles and aunts whenever they see my tanks never praise my fish on how it looks. its always either a 'bet those taste great fried with garlic' or 'we've ate those when we was living in china' it always baffles me cos i never knew arowanas and giant cichlids even exist in chinese rivers.

Man when I lived at home it was nuts, I worked at a pet store and any one whos done that knows the kind of crazy deals you get on things from people who "cant take care of it anymore"

Anyway before I moved out and had actaully just met my fiance I had:

2 55s on a double stand
1- 30 long
2 20 highs stacked on a shelf
and a 20 under my loft bed.

That doesnt count all the reptiles I had in a different room. I cant believe she stuck around. Now the convos go like this

Me: Hey you know what would be fun? A cichlid breeding room, I already have the fish and most of the tanks.
Her: yea that would be neat
Me: cool I should think about that
Her 2 weeks later: I didnt know our basement was going to turn into a fish farm
Me: You always said I could do whatever in the basement.

I love my girly lol

Wifey has limited me to 4 tanks up and running, but not gallonage. Like it's a heartbreak to shut down a 20 or a 29 for a 180 or 210(my next acquisition).

my parents are the best
very supportive
dad is very engaged into the hobby with me and helps stock the 180!
my dad has had tanks every since he was 20.
my first tank was a 150 tall
and that was when i was 8.

My parents are worried about the electric bill. WE have horses. And they r kinda leinent like i have a 120 for 2 oscars. And 30 in my room lol my mom said one tank had to go in my room. But since i have a queen water bed i need the 30 in there lol so i have some room

happens to me... i just buy my mom a cheap pretty fish and she gets over it!

My parents are mostly concerned with three things...
-Am I really going to take care of it? Will it just sit in my room without attention?
-Will it break the floor?
-Do I have the money?

This applies to most things, but especially living. Since I am very affectionate with my current aquarium, I am allowed to keep it. I want to upgrade to a 75, but it's pretty difficult unless I find a low priced Craigslist ad with good pictures and a wood stand (equal distribution of weight, 75 is pushing it on my floor).

Well it's weird with my family.

My dad helps me setup my tank(s), he sighs everytime he sees me on the computer looking at "fishes" stuff, he likes the fish i get, but he gets angry when the tank starts to smell when it cycles, but i always tell him after the cycle it will never smell.

My mom has gone to numerous pet shops several times just for me, she always listens to what i have to say about fish and she likes the fish i get. The problem is, i buried myself under a 55g when i probably could've gotten a 75 or even 90g. They say no more big tanks, i will stick the smaller tanks under the 55g, and maybe a 30g in my room, or another 55g in my room.

My Oldest sister always buys my gifts ( bday etc ) fish related, which greatly pleases me, she always listens to what i have to say about fish, but she hates it when i feed live fish

My second oldest sister hates fish, but one night she asked my several questions about fish and she was actually interested, she doesn't like any of the fish i invest my entire allowance in but she likes clownfish, maybe a potential bday present??

My youngest sister sometimes listens to my rambling about fish, sometimes watches videos or looks at the pictures but other times she says she hates fish, until i tell her she can't name any, she always names them ariel

All in all, my parents are afraid of big tanks hogging space, we are 5-6 people in a 1,800sqft house and just downsized from a 3300sqft house, so things are mildly tough.

It just occurred to me while writing this, they would probably allow tanks of the same or smaller size of my 55g, that means i can stash 10/20/30g away in my room!

All in all, my family dont care about fish, except my only grand father who bred angelfish and kept clownfish and other various fish when he lived in cuba. He always listens to my ramblings about fish
