Yup I believe that. I grew one from 3" to 30" in a year in the past.
The pics are coming rest assured, it's just hectic with me moving during the week after work right now so not much time this week to deal with the fish.

Amazing growth.
I have had three and none of mine grew very fast. I don't actually try to get any of my fish to grow fast as I find I generally they live a longer period of time, when they are raised slowly.
I have a few of my other fish that are now 20 years old and older. One that is in it's 32nd year in one of my 180's. Unfortunately the longest I've ever owned a Sorubimichthys planiceps is 17 years (1987 to 2004). It was 11" when I bought it at Aquarium Services (Monty) on Dundas St in Mississauga, Ontario for $50.00. It measured 58" when it died in 2004. So it only grew 47" in 204 months.
A second one had a shorter life span bought at 14" also from Aquarium Services on Dundas St in Mississauga, Ontario for $65.00 in 1992. It measured 51" when it also died in 2004. So it only grew 37" in 144 months.
My present one I got from Jerry Draper/Sheldon Tropical Fish Room in Brantford Ontario. It was 28" when I got it in 2006 and had been raised in an indoor pond. It is an estimated 44" now. So it has grown approx 16" in 60 months. It's diet is mainly african cichlids with a few barbs and central american cichlids for dessert. Although the tank is fed with about 25 lbs of mackerel, herring, salmon and/or smelts each week it is not strong enough to muscle in on the Wallago's and Phractocephalus hemioliopterus for the big chunks.

The first is moving the bigger one to the big tank in 1995 and then a pic of the smaller one about 12-14 feet from the viewing glass and in about 8 to 9 feet deep water also taken in 1995.
