My Plecos

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks guys. When I first started, I hunt them down from all the lfs within 1 hr drive. Then I got to know the lfs owners and ask them to bring in some for me. Of course, that's the most expensive way. Then I learned about mfk and for some from members. It's vendors and aquabid after that. Now, I'm hunting down the farms and getting some directly from there.

Buying from members is still the best bet. Reasonable prices, well taken of, usually disease free, don't have to pay shipping or have to buy bulk. Flowerhornfishman, you are in Malaysia? I'm sure you guys have better selection than us.

They were housed in 5 tanks throughout the house. Most of the larger ones were housed in a 240 and a 180. Unfortunately the 240 cracked so I had to consolidate them into the 180 for now. It's cramped and I really do need get one more large tank. If you follow my for sale threads, you'll know that I have a "wife situation" going on now. Just need to resolve this "wife situation" before I can buy another large tank.

Sigh... Woman, can't live with them, can't trade them in for more fish.......

getting my wife a 75g glo tank fixed that,

I give hiding places for the smaller ones. The larger ones actually do surprising well together. My take on it is that if you have enough of them around, they don't really get a chance to setup their own territory. Of course, there's always some split fins or a scrap here n' there when I introduces new larger plecos. But since there are so many more targets out there, any aggression is spread out and eventually they learn to accept eachother. All of the larger ones leave the small ones alone.

Heck, the two largest guys, the 12" L185 and the 15" Luteus, they used to try to kill eachother, now, they sometimes sleep on top of eachother (not because of lack of space, plenty of open spaces at center and other corners of the tank) The 10" L282 sleep sideways and wouldn't move til one of the 12" L25s comes by and nudges him a lil. Getting by surprising well.
