Just a hobbyist!
I learn from people who run the Bichir meets here in Japan.
These scientist/enthusiasts deserve the credit. They were there during the Japan Poly boom in the 90's, and they are still providing awesome information and studies now in 2012!
Im more than happy to pass on what I learn from them to those willing to listen.

Firstly sorry for the dbl post... ma phone was acting up..

TGM... Its a privileged truly.... for a noob like me on polys... Its not even a year back since i got back into the hobby... before that i never knew what Bichirs were and this forum specially the poly folks have helped me a lot in learning about them... special credit to the old timers like yourself and others... cheers ;)

@ To the OP...

My bad for the short derail :)

Your collection is growing pretty good bro... these fellas gonna have a great tank to settle in too...

Yours is 100% CB due to the size and the fact that these hybrids are man made, not natural hybrid.
The reason yours was cheap is because it is a hybrid that is mass farmed. (there are lots of them)

WC are not caught as juveniles, so you will only ever see large WC.
Long ago WC were considered "rare" and very few existed in home aquaria.
This is not the case anymore.
WC Ansorgii are availible on the trade now. Easy to find in Asia (cheap here in Japan and some other parts) Maybe not so easy outside Asia, but not too difficult to get ordered in.

Always good to see people like yourself who work in an LFS and actually give a damn about learning the fish!

ok that makes sense. and yeah I strive to learn everything about everything that comes through our doors. Knowledge is power! Maybe one day soon I will try to order in some WC Ansorgii for my store and for my own collection. I'm obviously not going to get rid of this Ansorgii hybrid, but I was definitely hoping for a true Ansorgii.

thanks! I got into the hobby pretty recently as well. I got my first Endlicheri about 8 or 9 months ago and I am always looking to add more. They became one of my favorite species of all time. They will love their new 225g too! It's a huge step-up from the 30g and 29g lol

nice collection! looking forward to see them all grown up

Thanks! I'm excited to see them grow as well. My Endli has already gotten massive since I got him. The Ornate is growing like crazy too
