Bump, new update on the faranah lap

Np, update on all the new guys.

The little lap is getting there lol still skinny but filled out a tad bit. I really like the difference in apearence compared to the koloton think they are gonna look cool together. Both are nice but if i had to choose it would be the koloton hands down. Probably not fair to the little lap as hes much smaller but i love the contrast between the kolotons base color and patterns.

Bv is has settled in some more. His facial patterns are cool. Looks like he has a burglar mask near his eyes. Never saw this one my other endli but he/she has a backwards 7 and an upside down 7 on both sides of its face. Ive only seen the backwards on on the others.

Wanted you guys to try and find some similarities between the congi. Other than the color and patterns, their head shape, jaw width and slope of the upper jaw are also different. They are truly the odd couple.

Sorry if the pics/vids were out of focus, i dont really like keeping the lights bright at night

Btw i hate the way this tank looks...way to oeverpopulated. Im gonna cut back on feedings to twice a week until they are in the new tank.

Do a 1 for 1 on those space hogging rocks of yours. 1 rock out, then 1 more new poly in. Think there's about 6-7 pieces in there for new polys :-) there u go, problem solved!

Looks was a poor choice in words. I just dont like the feel of it. Too many fish too small of a tank

I totally understand. My 300g was to help keep maintenance down and give the fish plenty of space. I have had comments that I should add more fish but I am happy with where Im at and the level of maintenance required to keep it.

We have very similar styles and tastes in fish and i really really hate where i am at in the hobby right now. Seriously worried that the new tank will become high maintenance and all the effort im puttong into making low maintenance will be a waste. Only thing that makes me feel optimistic is the final stock will be 10or 11 polys amd the 1 cichlid. Maybe less cichlids will outweight the additional polys was only going to be 7. I really wanted to add one more but am second guessing that idea.

When I had my 'final' stock in my 210g I had 4 cichlids, 2 polys (upper jaws), 1small catfish, and my large rhino pleco. It was kind of high maintenance.

In the 300g my current stock of 3 cichlids and 6 polys seems about right and I can stretch out required maintenance a bit further. Though I do still keep up on water changes and maintenance its really because I want too instead of because I have to due to overstocking.

When your big tank is set up, the polys wont look as crowded. But if it were me I would try and add something else to swim in the upper area. Having just the one cichlid seems a bit empty looking. I have the 3 and feel like I need to add something... maybe a bala shark.

I think im pretty set on the pearsei and what was supposed to be 6 to 8 polys. Now being 10 or 11.
Just hope maintenance is easy 100gal (80 or 90 of actual water) should help.if not then will think of selling some

Thanks for the updates!

I know what you mean about it feeling cramped, even if it's technically OK. I have a hard time sometimes with keeping these fish in tanks period, which is we all try to do best by them. For me personally, the live plants and driftwood helps me to feel better about it all - like there is enrichment and a natural setting to it. With others it's stocking levels, keeping "friends" for company (like with the ropes, they like buddies), or larger tanks. (And then others on here don't seem to care with oscars in 30 gallons etc. etc.)

What size is your larger tank going to be? I'm sure you'll be happier then. The good thing is that polys aren't super active fish.

Right now as you know I am struggling with the congo tetras and the Cteno. Even though I don't care all that much about them (no personality), they seem to want to swim more than 3 feet, and when he's being a dick and chasing them, they definitely want more room to swim, and even though he's not doing damage yet they're stressed, so I feel badly. The height of the tank helps but... The Cteno actually just needs to go. It will help me settle - you don't want to look at your tank and be stressed.
