The Polli male is showing some nice colors but the females are still pretty dull:


And finally some pics of the Ornatipinnis, which has grown from 2-3" to 6-7"
What do you think about the external gills on him? Are they not supposed to fall off when they are smaller ?

how well do the ropes get along in the tank? what size is your biggest poly and what size is your rope? I was thinking about getting a couple ropes with my polys

the ropes are 12-13" and the biggest poly´s are ~ 10"
They all do very well and i dont see a problem keeping ropes with the smaller polys.

Hi Andri,

your pics are beautiful ... the last ones are really disturbing! Didn't the ornate get any problems with that heavy meal?
Your bichirs are well-conditioned - your tank is amazing! Do you think the dark substrate do have any positive effect to the bichir's coloration? I'm keeping mine the same way and do think so ...

yes i think so too! my Polli´s came from a light substrate tank and were much lighter when i got them because of that.

I was lucky with the Ornate, when i opened the tank lid to get him he got spooked and spit the pleco out. I was worried it was stuck.

got 3 more polypterus today
the best part... for free.
3 10" healthy Palmas polli, 2 males and 1 female. now i have 6 polli´s, 3 males and 3 females.
The new female is the fattest poly i have seen, she literally rolls on her belly, full of eggs maybe?
I sure hope so since the male i had is really frisky hehe, is already checking the new girl out.

Have to get better pics of the big girl swimming, these pics do her no justice!
